Dominican University Takes Knight Championship

Dominican University secured the Knight Division Championship on Tuesday with a 10-3 victory over Hoy Landscaping. The game was knotted in the early frames, but Dominican jumped ahead midway through and tightened its defense behind a long start by lefty pitcher Pete O'Connell.  DU steadily padded its lead, including Sharmore Clarke slapping a low-outside pitch for a homer over the right-field fence. DU middle relievers Clarke and Ben Ostler and then closer Peter Harlovic pitched their way past late Hoy comeback threats. 

OPT Cunningham Division Champs!

In 2013 Cunningham championship final Oak Park Township, the regular season champion with a 16-3 record, unbelievably rallied from a 14-8 deficit, scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th to defeat Breit & Johnson 15-14.  B & J had come back in the 6th (4 runs) & 7th innings (9 runs), down 7-1, scoring all 9 runs in the top of the 7th after 2 outs, but 9 OPT batters in order reached base in their 1/2 of the inning with Evan Neislawski driving in the winning runs with a walk-off 2B hit, his third of the game.  Roy Iversen had pitched 5 strong innings for OPT in the beginning of th

Ponies win 14u Championship

The Oak Park and River Forest 14u "Ponies" win the Chicagoland Sunday Baseball Memorial Day Tournament.

After sweeping their pool and outscoring opponents 35-4, the 14u team advanced to the semi finals.

Outstanding defense played a large role in the semi-final game, as well as strong pitching. In the seventh with OPRF ahead by 1 and the tieing run on second with 2 outs, center fielder Justin Quick made a diving catch to end the game and help the team advance to the finals.
