Congratulations OPRF 13-year-old national team!!!The team played well in the Pony North Zone in Bradley Boubannais. The went 3-0 in pool play and won in dramatic fashion off a 2-run homer by Sam Munno in the seventh inning to force an extra game against Channahan. Unfortunately they did not win the extra game and came up one game shy of going to the World Series in Chino Hills, CA. We are extremely proud of the boys. Thank you to all of the parents for the support (going to Bourbannais six straight days is brutal) and encouragement. Special thanks go to the staff: JJ Dwyer, Larry Venzera, Dennis Alcock, and Pete "Buck" Buckingham. |

Congrats to 13/14 Local Team! The 13- and 14-year-old local team completed their season this weekend. OPRF took second in the Carol Stream Gold Medal Tournament. The team was 3-0 in pool play and advanced to the chamionship game after winning the semi-final round in extra innings. With 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, Pat Corrigan hit a single up the middle and Tom Planek drew a walk. Both advanced on a passed ball to Nate Hesterman. Hesterman hit a ball to center field that scored Corrigan easily. A great throw by the center fielder was not in time to get Planek who was advancing to win the game. OPRF finished fourth in the Dunham Park All Star tournament as well this weekend. Thanks to all of the parents for their support and many thanks to Mark Parr and Jim Kahn for their time in helping manage the team. The entire team roster made significant contributions, both offensively and defensively, to allow the team to compete so aggressively. Congratulations to the players! |

OPRF Pony Baseball is expanding to make our league the best it can be!This is a golden opportunity to get a baseball workout once a week during the offseason. You will be amazed at how much improvement you will see in your game if you practice at least once a week during the winter. Fee: $80.00 for the 8 week session The first sessions (October 3), all participants will have a two hour session, 7:30 – 9:30 pm. October 10, players will be assigned into either the first session (7:30 - 8:30) or the second session (8:30 – 9:30). In this initial season, we are offering this opportunity to OPRF Pony players interested in playing travel baseball. The league is also expanding its tournament program by entering more tournaments before and after the in-house league. This fall program will be supervised by OPRF Pony Coaches and OPRF high school Pony alumni. Individuals that sign up for the Fall Workout Program will have the opportunity to sign up for the 2009 OPRF Pony League Season. Players now have the opportunity to improve their skills. Girls softball has been having winter workouts for years and the girls have been highly successful. We have worked hard to get this special opportunity to use this facility and we envision the same type of success. Participating in this program does not in any way mean that you are on a particular travel team at the end of the season. If interested, participating in this program, please reserve your spot by e-mailing Rob Ruffulo at rjr12sox@comcast.net Payment of the $80.00 will be due at the first session. Please make checks payable to “OPRF Pony League” We look forward to productive and fun Fall Program! Thank you, Rob Ruffulo Larry Venzera |

Registration has a new look. We are testing a new system to pre-register the players. Parents can fill out forms online, print and sign them and turn them in at the registration event with their payment. This will allow us to capture information accurately and should make things easier for the parents. This is a new system and users may experience a problem or two. The original forms are stilled posted here and can be downloaded to fill out by hand. Also, forms will be available at the registration event itself. Feel free to provide feedback about the online registration process to admin@oprfpony.com. Pre-registration can be found here. |
